LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (February 28, 2019) – Alamitos West Health Care Center, located in Los Alamitos, Calif., received an Overall Rating of 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). In December 2008, CMS enhanced its Nursing Home Compare (NHC) public reporting site to include a set of quality ratings for each nursing home that participates in Medicare or Medicaid.
The ratings take the form of several “star” ratings for each nursing home. The primary goal of this rating system is to provide residents and their families with an easy way to understand assessment of nursing home quality, making meaningful distinctions between high and low performing nursing homes.
The rating system features an Overall Rating of one to five stars based on community performance for three types of measures, each of which has its own five-star rating: Health Inspections, Staffing, and Quality Measures. Health Inspection measures are based on outcomes from State health inspections, Staffing measures are based on nursing home staffing levels, and Quality Measures are based on Minimum Data Set and claims-based quality measures.
The 5-star Overall Rating is displayed for Alamitos West Health Care Center on the NHC website. “We are honored to receive this 5-star Overall Rating from CMS and look forward to continue providing high quality care for residents at Alamitos West Health Care Center,” said Pradeep Muley, executive director of Alamitos West Health Care Center.
